Release Date: March 27, 2014
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Synopsis
They say some things must be broken before they can be fixed. But when Michaela hoped to cast doubt on the Aethere, she never thought things would fall apart like they did. Now the Aethere have turned their attention to the End of Days, and they won’t rest until they obtain the tools of Earth’s final destruction: the Seven Seals.
The world is falling apart at the seams, and Michaela finds herself clutching the threads. She alone understands what will happen if the Aethere ever get the seals, and it’s the one thing she will fight to the death to prevent if she has to.
Even amidst the devastation on Earth, Michaela struggles to restore her faith in Gabriel. Together, they’ll need to decide if their love is strong enough to erase the line she had fought so hard to draw between holy and fallen.
Michaela said she wanted a war, but when the End is looming, what will she fight for?
My Thoughts
I will start by saying that Meg did it again. Covers will always draw me in before I know a single thing about the book. I’m glad to say that she managed to capture all the important aspects of the book without giving everything away. Beautiful cover. But we aren’t here to talk about the cover are we?
In The Lost One, we get more back story on Clark’s parents, which is awesome. Now I don’t dislike Isaac as much as I did in The Hunted One. Of course we get more Michaela and Clark. I love the way their relationship develops. And Gabriel…sigh. He’s a ball of yum that I want to thrash into next week. One minute I’m swooning over him, then he pisses me off. I think at the end of the book we are not dating any more. Team Michaela, despite the fact that I understand his reasons for doing what he did.
Ah Clark…Can we all agree the ascension to bad ass is looking good on him? I can’t wait to see what he eventually becomes once he is fully ingrained into his new role.
Overall, Collett managed to weave a story that sucked me in from the beginning and left me reeling with the final revelation. I really can’t wait for the next book. Seriously, come on, Meg. You’re killing me.
Final thought: As I said in my review of The Hunted One, I’m not a fan of cliffhangers. I wanted to read The Lost One, but Collett didn’t turn me into a stalker forced to hunt for any tidbit I could get. She managed to do the same with The Lost One, just enough of a hanger that I don’t want to stalk her trashcans for discarded chapters, but hooked enough to anxiously await the next book.
Though I received this book in exchange for an honest review, I purchased a copy because I believe in this author’s talent and vision. Thanks for the opportunity to read The Lost One.
